today we covered pulp mill road. ranking this at the top of my list of my walks so far. i saw a wedding at the winery, a hawk circling above me, massive machinery and buildings, the cutbanks in detail, the river so close.

sometimes when i speak about my anti-car opinions people tend to interpret this as "she thinks we need to get rid of all vehicles, especially mine, and thus elizabeth desires to harm my life". that is not what i believe, i understand the practicality of vehicles. this was a 5 hour walk total. starting from the roundabout, it took just under an hour to get to the train tracks in front of canfor. asking people to bus, walk , bike, whatever to a jobsite like this every day ain't practical.

i know well that folks that live and work outside a city center need a car. i just simply ask that we ask why we've structured it all in a way where *everyone* needs a car. a car is necessary for most to go to work, school, take care of their kids, buy their groceries. i understand that well, but i also understand the high cost of that. i also understand that there's a lot of folks out there where that ain't an option. so all i ask is that maybe, sometimes, we take a step back and ask, what are we doing here?

y'all working out on pulp mill road, continue on. what a fun walk today was.
